The Ultimate Guide to Candle Care

Unleash the Full Fragrance Potential of Your Taydanka Candle: Essential Care Tips

A Taydanka candle isn't just a source of light, it's an experience. To ensure your candle burns beautifully and fills your home with its amazing fragrance for as long as possible, proper care is essential. Here are some essential tips to maximize your candle's lifespan and fragrance throw.

The First Burn: Setting the Stage for Even Burning

The very first time you light your Taydanka candle, it's crucial to allow it to burn for 2-3 hours. This initial burn creates a complete "melt pool," where the wax melts all the way to the edges of the container. This even melt pool prevents (tunnelling) this where the wax builds up around the wick, leading to uneven burning and wasted wax. Just never leave a burning candle unattended.

Wick Maintenance: The Key to a Clean and Long-Lasting Flame

Trimming your wick after each burn will ensure your candle does not burn hotter than it should, prolonging its life. Trim the little black ball of wax on the end of your wick to keep your candle burning correctly. This will give you a clean and consistent flame, preventing soot and extending the life of your candle. Be mindful not to trim the wick too short or it will become engulfed by wax.

Finding Stillness: Why Drafts are a Candle's Enemy

Candles thrive in calm environments. Any drafts can disrupt the burning process, causing the flame to flicker and leading to uneven melting. In extreme cases, drafts can even cause the candle to collapse. If drafts are unavoidable, turn your candle occasionally to ensure an even burn. Additionally, drafts can cause your candle to smoke, so finding a cosy, draft-free spot is ideal.

Light Sensitivity: Understanding Your Candle

Soy wax candles are sensitive to temperature and light. Fragrances with vanilla content may yellow when exposed to sunlight or fluorescent light, this is normal and does not affect the burning of the candle. Our soy wax is formulated for clean and luxurious burning. When storing your candle, keep it upright in a cool, dry place away and from direct sunlight.

By following these simple steps, you can be an ensured that your Taydanka soy candle burns beautifully.
